The key difference between notebooks and topics is that notebooks are temporary and/or less important interests. Notebooks provide a way to better organize your notes when they are piling up.
Topics are used to tag your notes. You can retrieve your notes when you open up the relevant topic's page. Topics help in organising information and should be as specific as possible to be highly selective in what you save into your Notes Dashboard.
